West of Buckingham County, Va., merchant, who operated a general store near the Buckingham Female Institute, in part concerning operations at the school; a personal account book, 1855-1857, loose accounts, and legal records; records of John S. West & Co. of Buckingham County, including inventories of goods, account books, 1856-1859 and 1865-1867, and loose accounts; and scattered records, 1887-1896, of West Bros. of Buckingham County. Also, contains correspondence, 1858-1888, of William C. Agee (1828-1888), merchant of Buckingham County, Va., loose accounts, and general store records, 1868-1882, of West & Agee of Buckingham County; records, 1855-1890, of the United States Post Office at Gravel Hill, Buckingham County, in part kept by Martha Jane West and Sarah Elizabeth (Agee) West; and scattered materials of other members of the Agee and West families.
